OUR 50th ANNIVERSARY!

April 2009 — Celebrating 50 Years Serving the Greater Chicagoland Area.

April Spring Thaw Tournament:

Once again the weather was helpful, and relatively warm for our kick off season opener. Much better than the Sox got two days later – and postponed a day… What a great turnout. As we mentioned before our membership numbers are down a bit for 2009, yet the number of players for the first and second (after tax open) are right with last year. Please continue to keep some cards and let people know about NIMAGA. They can join at any time during the year, and last year we had over 20 players join after April 1. If you did not get a 50th Anniversary ball marker (poker chip) please let your tournament director know and we’ll make sure you get one. Although it looked like we had some exceptional shooting, one of our longest term members and oldest members almost shot his age in this first tournament – nice 83 Dick Gerasta (82 years young). After Tax Midweek scheduled for 4/16 has 60 players registered as of this writing.

Member Guest and 50th Anniversary Tournament at Prairie Landing May 19, 2009:

Everyone should try their best to attend this year’s Member-Guest. A Great Golf Course and outstanding food service. This year as well the player gift will be related to our 50 th anniversary. We have invited several of our past members who go back to the early days of NIMAGA. Roger Scott, our past president and 30 year Board member of NIMAGA will provide some historical perspectives on the club over the past 50 years. Bring as many friends or business associates as you’d like, or just bring yourself. Everyone is welcome and we look forward to this monumental event celebrating our 50 th Anniversary!

Winning Plaques:

Low gross and Low Net winners from each division will get a “spiffy” plaque to commemorate this outstanding achievement for each tournament. It is our goal to pass out the plaques at the following main event (generally not enough time between monthly and mid month events). Please look for or ask the tournament director if they have your plaque as we sometimes get busy and fail to recognize everyone. If you are not playing in the next month event, please send us an email and let us know what to do with your plaque. It may just be buried in someone’s trunk (it’s a Chicago thing)

Match Play Event:

Looks like the Match Play year long event is full with some play in opportunities in April. Contact with any questions or problems.

Have an unusual golf story? Hole in one? Life time best score? Noticed during the Spring Thaw that the scores were generally within reason. One exception was Nick Woods whose 92 gross would have placed in all gross field but Net was 61 - 11 under par. Great shoot’n Nick. One step closer to the Player division…
