NIMAGA NOTES
November 2007        www.nimaga.org            John Brdecka

Message from the President

At the Fall Board Meeting, it was approved that the majority of paper printing by NIMAGA for the members would be made available via the web site rather than by printing and mailing to the members. The NIMAGA rules and membership booklet  and tournament applications will be available on line at our web site www.nimaga.org. You can down load and print or just read or review online. For the few who do not have web access or are not comfortable with only an online version, please let us know and we will help with access to this important information. Saving the cost of printing and mailing these documents in part has allowed NIMAGA to keep the tournament and membership costs at the same level of 2007 for 2008. As well, we will be helping the environment by reducing paper waste and saving the TREE's we all love to avoid on the golf courses.

For Your Info

Please send in your tournament applications as soon as possible. Delays in sending in your applications till last minute has created some problems with getting tee times posted to website. Tee times will be posted as early as possible after deadline. Also, please do not staple checks to application. In some cases a revision date will be part of the delay. Get your applications in early!

Rules Corner

Far Hills, N.J. – Beginning in 2008, a golfer will be allowed to lift a ball for identification in a bunker or water hazard.  However, there now will be a two-stroke penalty for playing a wrong ball from a hazard. In match play, the penalty will be loss of hole.

These notable changes to Rules 12-2 and 15-3, which have been under consideration for several years, are among the amendments to the Rules of Golf agreed upon by the United States Golf Association and R&A Rules Limited that will be in effect starting Jan. 1, 2008.

For further info on this rule and others go to the USGA website www.usga.org

New Members

Of the numerous marketing efforts used in recent years, the best method of expanding our membership base has been our own members. Please help NIMAGA by letting your friends, coworkers and other golfing acquaintances know about NIMAGA and encourage them to join for 2008. As a benefit, each current member who brings in a new member will get $10 off their membership and $10 off for the new member! Bring in 2 new members and the current member gets $20 off their membership fee. Bring in 3 new members and your membership is $20. No rebates, just let us know who the new members are. Keep those NIMAGA business cards in your bag and let others know about NIMAGA. More members, larger tournament fields and larger payouts!
