JULY 2001

NIMAGA NOTES

“HOUSTON WE HAVE A PROBLEM”

The turnout for the July event is very very low!  Two years ago membership voted by over 66% that they wanted better courses even if it required higher costs and mandated carts.  In order to phase in this request the board changed the May, July and September events to deliver the best courses Heritage Bluffs, Chalet Hills, etc.”  This lack of turnout will force the board to make some difficult decisions going forward.

Possible changes are:

1.      Reduce premium events from 3-4 per year to only 1-2 per year.

2.      Eliminate an entire division

3.      Put two divisions on one course

4.      Reduce prize money due to smaller fields.

We will need your comments on this subject as the decisions for 2002 must be finalized by October to November.  Part of the solution is to get more new members so please let your friends know about our organization.  Direct them to the www.NIMAGA.org web site for information.

MIDWEEK EVENT

The event is at Ruffled Feathers Golf Course in Lemont, IL on Monday July 23rd.  It is a 8:00 am shotgun start event with a deadline for entry of July 5th.  The cost to play Ruffled Feathers is normally $125.00 but our events cost is $95.00.  There will be a high and low handicap division.  Don’t miss this chance to play at this premium site! Top two in each division qualify for Tournament of Winners.

TOURNAMENT OF WINNERS!

The July and August events plus the Midweek are your last chance to qualify for the tournament of winners which will be held at a earlier date this year – August 18th & 19th at the Sheppard’s Crook Golf in Zion.

MILWAUKEE CHALLENGE EVENT

Entry blanks for this event on September 22nd will be posted on the web site by early July and will be available at the July and August events.  It’s a limited field match play event that’s not to be missed.

TWO STROKE PENALTIES

Two stroke penalties are assessed for failure to tee off at your tee time.  The PGA tours would disqualify you but we only give you a two stroke penalty.  You must however, tee off by the last NIMAGA group.

Two stroke penalties are also assessed to each member of your group for slow play.

Arrive on time and avoid slow play!
